Who is scared of a little....no GIANT bug?

It is a shame that both Scott and I are terrified of bugs and it is a shame that Florida is KNOWN for it's big, straight up nasty bugs! I swear there are grasshoppers the size of my hand (okay, maybe not quite that big, I am known for having larger hands!), spiders that are ready to attack, June bugs that are for some reason attracted to me when I go swimming at my friends house and cockroaches. Well, last Saturday after having an enjoyable picnic with our friends, we came home totally exhausted (well me) and ready to collapse when I looked over and saw that (pictured above)...This picture does not do the size of that bug any justice...no it does not. Scott scrambled for anything he could use to attack. I thought it needed to be on video because I knew it would be a good show. Now, remember we both hate bugs, and for some reason my voice carries...a lot. So, it may be a little on the annoying side...but enjoy the attack of the cockroach.
The only thing hurt in this video was the bug. In fact, it was broken into two pieces.

you guys are hilarious! we both HATE bugs too! Which is kinda funny, seeing to the fact tyson sold pest control for 3 summers in a row. when we lived in new mexico we had major cockroaches and huge spiders all summer long. sick! so i totally feel for you! go buy a thing of Ortho-Home defense, it will be the best $11.00 or so purchase of your life! spray all along the floor boards, under the kitchen sink and you should be good to go! But nice video! i laughed, because that's exactly how we would have acted as well! Good job scott for beating the crap out of the bug! :-)

Jen..How are you feeling little Mamma!??

Yeah...bugs here in FLorida are nasty and we both hate them. We have a pest control company that services our apartment complex, but those little guys still sneak in from time to time. I guess I will just have to invest in a little Ortho-ness! Thanks for the info!!

SO FUNNY!!! :)

that was funny..and gross! I had a cockroach climb up my arm just after I had gone to bed when I was on my mission...lights came on and I spent 30 min searching the room under all covers, shoes, beds until I found the nasty thing and stomped it to death. YUCK!!

That is so funny. I'm totally laughing out loud watching that. You guys are great. We did NOT hang out enough at the reunion!!

(In Africa, we had big, flying cockroaches that would scatter about when you'd flip on the light. Yucka!)

That one would justify me hiding in the room for.
OK,
When we got home from Cali I wouldn't let the girls play outside because of this rattlesnake sort of sound. I thought possibly it was the sprinklers and not a snake. Later, Pete reassured me it was just a bird.

Two days later I found out from some girlfriends the sounds I am hearing are giant bugs. Pete totally knew. How dumb does he think I am?? Needless to say, my girls weren't allowed outside today. I'm sitting here listening. I feel like I live in the middle of a swamp or the rainforest. Holy cow, so dang LOUD!!! I think I'm surrounded!

Now I want to know where Jenny lives--are those loud bugs called Cicadas? We have those here and they are WILD! They're so creepy looking and LOUD!
