I
I first need to thank Juls and Tiffany for being guest bloggers. I really appreciate it. Well, I am just going to fill in the blanks.
Friday, I felt different. I REALLY wanted Ada to come on her due date which was Saturday and even prayed that she would come that day. Scott and I had the opportunity to go out to lunch followed by a movie. We were sitting in the credits and Scott said that this was the last time we would be going out on a date as just Scott and Lindsay. Was he ever right.
We got home and worked out. I walked two miles and the rest of the evening, tried to stay on my feet. I finally took a well needed break and sat down to knit (yes, a total dork) and relax. Around 10ish, I decided to lay down. Within a couple of minutes, I felt something pop, then water started gushing (sorry...tmi, but this is my story). I started freaking out, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, Scott, my water just broke." I RAN to the bathroom to confirm and, yes, it indeed had broken. We rushed to get some final things together. On the way there I started making calls and was shaking with nervousness and excitement. There was a Rays game going on and Scott almost did not see the cop car sitting in the middle of the street. We get to the hospital and then do what most people do at the hospital...wait.
First picture, me texting everyone to tell them my water broke. I did not feel like sitting.

In the check up room to confirm that you are in labor and also to ask a bunch of questions. Scott was pretty excited...
Not in much pain yet. Just waiting for the contractions to take full force so all of that anticipation was killing me. I was so scared about the possible pain that I was going to feel.
Awww...happy now the epidural was in place. Funny story about the epidural. They asked me how much pain I was feeling and I told them about a 3-4 on a scale of 1-10. They told me I could get the epidural right away if I wanted. I agreed without hesitation. I almost felt as if I had cheated labor just a little cause I never really felt a "Take your breath away" contraction. :)
After being in labor all night (and hardly sleeping) little Ada Lily joined us with her presence. This is the look of shock on my face when I felt how heavy this child was and realized she just came out of me!
Our tubby on the scale. Everyone was shocked to see that she was so big. And they were even more shocked when they found out I DID NOT have a C-Section . Oh no I did not...and I am feeling the "natural" after birth pains!!!
One of the first pictures after Ada's bath. This is to show that she has hair, although it only really looks like she has a mullet! It really looks like we shaved the sides...
The proud daddy. Scott was worried that he would hurt a newborn, but he has been awesome. He changed her first 4 poopy diapers, 3 of them from the first night!
Asleep in Daddy's arms. She got a little touch of Jaundice so I had to really try and get her to eat more (apparently the more she eats, the better chance she has to poop out the bilirubin). She did a good job and also had to get her heels pricked every three hours to check her blood glucose levels cause of her size. I am glad to say we got to take her home today and her vital signs are all awesome. She has a good healthy cry when she is hungry and will not let me forget that she needs food!
Me on the other hand...I am taking one step at a time. There are a lot of extra little and big pains that I will spare the details, but I am good. I love my little Ada and am excited to be a mom. Scott is doing well and loves snuggling with his little baby (he did not tell me that, I can just tell). There is a really special spirit around us.
Thanks for all of the well wishes. We are so happy and excited. I just need to retrain myself to sleep again.
A little video of Ada Lily.

She is darling! I lover her little nose and lips. Thank heavens she has a little chub to her cheeks... so much cuter than the skinny premies that look like wrinkled old men. I am so excited for you two! You look like pros. When did you pick the name Ada? How do I say it? A-(as in apple) or A as in Oakland A's- da? Very cute.
Wow Linds- she is gorgeous and plump! She has three pounds on Elijah still!! Congratulations and best of luck with your recovery. Enjoy every moment- it goes so fast!
i love your story! i was so excited to see the picture of her with your surprised look. i also love the texting pic of you. i've been trying to figure out how to break outta here to go see you, but it's not that easy, plus you guys need to just relax and not worry about being hosts yet. I want to feel her soft hair!

That's such a wonderful thing. Congratulations!

She is so precious!! I can't believe how big she is - wow! What a little doll. Congrats you two!
Congratulations to you both! She is so adorable....what a cute video! I can't believe you pushed out a baby over 9 pounds on your first one! You've already beat me. Ethan was 5 lb. 3 oz. and Austin was 7 lb. 3 oz. I am very happy for you guys! Enjoy.
Thanks everyone. For any of you wondering how to pronounce her name, it's A- (as in the Oakland A's, or as is ate) duh. A-duh. Ada.
Ada is settling into her new home well. Hopefully she'll be content most of the night and let her mom sleep a little.
Oh yeah. Lindsay's mom got into town today and she'll be here for a few weeks to help with Ada, so that will be nice.

Congrats you two! first, I can't believe you didn't have any contractions before your water broke..so not fair. Second, little Ada is a doll. You delivered a 9 lb baby...you go girl! Looks like you are already a pro. Have fun and enjoy your new little bundle!
I love it! I hope you guys know how pretty she is. For real. Newborns aren't usually that pretty. And DUDE. Lindsay, you are not supposed to look that pretty the second after you give birth! Seriously! You guys are going to be the best parents. I loved hearing more of the story, thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much everyone. I just now need to be patient with the sleepless nights, pain of breast feeding (literal) and recovery! Wish me luck! I love this little girl, though!!
Your face, while you are texting telling everyone your water broke, is hilarious. You are SO excited. Congrats Lindsay...you're a mommy!!!

What a cute little baby! Welcome to the mommy club. :)
Yay! Thanks for the whole story. She has such a beautiful little face. Wow! I think that nursing the first 2 weeks was harder for me than the delivery with Emmy! Good luck! I'm sure you have advice pouring in from all directions, but give me a call if you want! LOVE the video!
My first baby, it took a month for nursing to not be painful (he didn't latch right) But he got it, and I went through tubes of Lansinoh! Although I do not envy you or become baby hungry with your post, it is exciting to see new parents with their baby. It is really special the first time (not that it isn't the others, it is just different-for me!) Congratulations again!
Yay! The wait is finally over. I'm so happy for you two. Love the name Ada. She is so beautiful. Congratulations! Isn't having your water break a strange sensation? Didn't it feel like you'd wet your pants over and over again? That was so awkward. I kept apologizing to the nurses...like I could help it! Haha!
What a beautiful little baby girl! Grandpa is a very happy man right now and feeling really blessed. Thanks for getting the pictures and video out...next best thing to being there. Looking forward to when I get to hold her. Wonder how much she will weigh then. I thought David was a huge baby...but Ada beats him hands down.
Lindsay congrats she is absolutely beautiful. I know your mom is in town helping and you probably have tons of calls and visitors but I work right around the corner so one day when your feeling up to it let me know when I can stop by!!!
I'm so happy for you! It's a good thing that I don't live in Florida because I'd probably bring her home with me and never give her back. =)
P.S. Let Ada know that one day she will be dating Colton.
Oh my she is just gorgeous. I love newborns. I wish I could holdher. I have an Idea!!!! Come visit. lol
Good luck to the parents and Ada Lilly.
I know lots of people have already told you, but it's true: not all newborns are beautiful. Ada is beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
